Alcohol Awareness Month

Alcohol Awareness Month - Take a day off from drinking this week

Alcohol Awareness Month
Sponsor: National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc.
Drinking too much alcohol increases people’s risk of injuries, violence, drowning, liver
disease, and some types of cancer.
The good news? We can all do our part to prevent alcohol misuse or abuse.
Make a difference: Spread the word about strategies for preventing alcohol abuse and
encourage communities, families, and individuals to get involved.
How can Alcohol Awareness Month make a difference?
We can use this month to raise awareness about alcohol abuse and take action to
prevent it, both at home and in the community.
Here are just a few ideas:
• Encourage friends or family members to make small changes, like keeping track
of their drinking and setting drinking limits.
• Share tips with parents to help them talk with their kids about the risks of alcohol
use.
• Ask doctors and nurses to talk to their patients about the benefits of drinking less
or quitting.
How can I help spread the word?
We’ve made it easier for you to make a difference. This toolkit is full of ideas to help you
take action today. For example:
• Add information about alcohol abuse to your newsletter.
• Tweet about Alcohol Awareness Month.
• Host a community event where families can learn about local addiction
resources.
• Add a Web badge to your Web site, blog, or social networking profile.

Amish April giveaway
The name of my group is Amish Books and Charity Crafts, which you can find after you sign in on ravelry.com, and click the groups button, and enter that name. We have over 400 lovely members, and are always adding more.
We read a new Amish fiction book each month, and this month, April, we’ve voted to read An Amish Kitchen, by Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, and Kelly Long. Mrs. Clipston and Mrs. Wiseman generously donated books, pens, bookmarks, and Amy sent 4 awareness bracelets, in support of her husband’s past kidney transplant operation. More about that here: http://amyclipston.com/project/the-gift-of-love/
Here you can learn about THE COURTSHIP BASKET, which is Amy Clipston’s latest book, (Releasing 6/28/16):
http://amyclipston.com/project/the-courtship-basket/ Beth Wiseman is branching out by writing on other subjects besides Amish fiction. She donated A Tide Worth Turning, which you can read about here: http://bethwiseman.com/books/a-tide-worth-turning/, and a book I’m hoping to purchase soon: The Promise, which is “Inspired by actual events, this riveting story will take you on a wild journey and have you asking yourself: How far would I go for love?” http://bethwiseman.com/books/the-promise/

COME JOIN MY GROUP, and tell me about your favorite charity, post topics about it, and read a new Amish fiction book every month!
